Thousands of Australian active seniors are enjoying retirement village living

Transition to aged care

Australian active seniors can enjoy Retirement Village living prior to moving into an Aged Care Facility.

In Japan there is currently no transition between the Family Home and an Aged Care Facility.

Sunshine Village believes a wonderful opportunity presents to build Australian style Retirement Villages for Japanese active seniors.

Transition to aged care in Australia

A large number of active Australian seniors enjoy Retirement Village living for many years prior to transitioning to an Aged Care facility.

Across Australia there are over 2,200 retirement villages, providing accommodation for over 190,000 active seniors aged 55 and up.

Transition to aged care in Japan

Japan has a large and growing sector of aged care facilities for residents requiring nursing care and other medical services. Japan uses the term Sakojyu which is defined as "serviced elderly housing". The majority of Sakojyu facilities provide modestly sized living spaces in multistoried mansions. The benefits for the residents often include a provision of meal services and nursing care.

Japan currently has very few examples of a transition between the family home and an Aged Care facility for active seniors who do not require any nursing care.

This presents and opportunity for Sunshine Village to build facilities for Japan's large and rapidly growing sector of independent and active seniors.
